facebook's Open Graph code is a free and effective method to drive sales.

 

What is Open Graph (OG)?

OG is two sets of code that places a preformated image, title and content paragraph (see image) on your facebook page. If this ad is then clicked on facebook, it takes the person to your designated URL, ("og:url" of code B below). Say that Sally likes your website, she then clicks on a link (code A below) which places your preformatted image, title and content on her facebook page. Seeing Sally's post in the facebook newsfeed, her 500 friends then have the ability to learn about you. That's free, effective advertising. Her 500 friends in-turn can "Share" Sally's post of your website on their facebook pages. Then, Bob likes your website so he too clicks your facebook link, sharing with his 600 friends the preformatted ad you designed. Thereby, you grow views of your business exponentially.

 

 

Implementation

 

Step 1.

Copy and paste Code A (orange text) into your webpage, *replacing the red NYDesign URL with yours:

 

Code A: The link you place anywhere on your website; multiple pages is fine:

Step 2.

Copy and paste Code B (both orange and red text) into your homepage's metaheadings, *replacing the red content with yours. Use an image 574w x 273h pixels for your og:image in line 1 of the code:

Once you have completed this and placed the OG image online, upload your website and test your link. You will see your preformatted facebook ad and a blue "Post to Facbook" button that places your ad on your facebook page. Anyone who visits your website and clicks your link, can also place your ad on their facebook page, sharing your designated URL with 100s of others. A simple and free way to drive more business.
